In the next ten days, the Pacific Northwest will have the Washington H.S. State Championships, the NJCAA National Championships, the Oregon H.S. State Championships, and the Pac 10 Conference Championships. Never in one week's time has the northwest had this many great wrestling events so close together. Frank Johnson was a state wrestling champion in 1984 for Kennewick High, before going on to wrestle at North Idaho College and Pacific University. Johnson later became a national wrestling champion in college, winning the 1990 NAIA title at 134 pounds at Pacific University in Forest Grove, Oregon. Johnson was honored earlier this month when he was inducted into the Pacific Athletic Hall of Fame.
