Hargobind- Finals recap and challenge matches (updates)
The finals of the 2009 Hargobind tourney are a wrap. Several Americans had good performances and there were a few surprises. There was some really good wrestling, and the competition provided for some close, hard fought matches.
Finals recap- not sure on all the names of non-Americans at this time, we will try to get official results.
55 kg- John Pineda (Canada) defeated Sam Hazewinkel (USA) in two periods
60kg- Coleman Scott (USA) over opponent from India in 3 periods
66kg-Garcia (Canada) over Teyon Ware (USA) in 3 periods
74 kg-Ben Askren (USA) defeated Matt Gentry (Canada) in 3 periods. This was probably the best match of the finals, a close match.
84 kg-Travis Paulson (USA) defeated Canadian in 2 periods
96 kg- Bryce Hasseman defeated Canadian
HWT- Les Sigman defeated Steve Mocco (USA) in 2 periods.
CHALLENGE BOUTS
This tourney awards the opportunity to earn an extra paycheck following the conclusion of the finals. Champions square off against each other for extra money. It always makes for some interesting matches for the fans, and matches they don't often get to see.
60 kg vs. 66kg: Garcia defeated Scott in 2 periods.
74 kg vs. 84 kg: Paulson defeated Askren in 3 periods
96 vs. 120 kg: Sigman defeated Hasseman in 3 periods.
